GSTR 9/ 9C now available for F.Y. 2018-19
A few days back tax payers and GST practitioners completed filing their GSTR 9 and 9C for F.Y. 2017-18 and it was a pain for many people as they were not able to understand it properly and lately many relaxations were provided to them.
Now GSTR 9 and 9C have been made active for F.Y. 2018-19 and as per the original timeline the due date to file such return is 31.03.2020.
After seeing so many changes being made in annual return for F.Y. 2017-18, it doesn’t seem that there will be much of extension in due date for filing GSTR 9 and 9C for F.Y. 2018-19.
GSTR-9 is an annual return to be filed yearly by taxpayers registered under GST. It consists of details regarding the outward and inward supplies made/received during the relevant previous year under different tax heads i.e. CGST, SGST & IGST and HSN codes. Basically, it is a consolidation of all the monthly/quarterly returns (GSTR-1, GSTR-2A, GSTR-3B) filed in that year.
GSTR-9C is reconciliation statement which is every registered person whose turnover during a financial year exceeds the prescribed limit of rupees two crores shall get his accounts audited by a chartered accountant. GSTR-9C is a statement of reconciliation between the Annual Returns in file GSTR-9 for an FY and the figures as per the audited annual Financial Statements of the taxpayer. It is basically a GST audit in general terms.
