After Aadhar card was launched it was announced that same needs to be linked with PAN card compulsorily, however the due date for same is continuously getting extended earlier from 31st March 2019 to 30th September 2019 and now to 31st December 2019 vide notification no. 75/2019.
The due date extension is for linking Aadhar card and PAN card, however if you are filing your return of income you need to compulsorily link your Aadhar card with PAN card before filing return of income and quote Aadhar card number also in your Income tax return and without which you can’t file your return of income. Same has been mentioned in notification 31/2019 issued by income tax department and it clearly mentions that this due date extension is for linking for Aadhar card and PAN card but if you are filing income tax return you need to quote your Aadhar card number in your income tax return.
Now let’s discuss the easiest way to link Aadhar card with PAN card:
The easiest way to do this is log in to your e-filing account go to profile setting and select Link Aadhar and quote your Aadhar number there and it will be linked. Earlier there used to be issue with regard to difference in name and Date of birth, however now there is ease in the process and if there is any deviation you should make appropriate changes in Aadhar card as it’s easier to amend Aadhar card rather than PAN card.
