CBDT has vide circular No. 9 of 2021 has extended various due dates under Income tax act for AY 2021-22 which includes Tax audit due date, Income tax return due date and this is a very welcoming step looking at the current scenario of pandemic.
Many people are appreciating this step of CBDT as this time they have been proactive and extended the due dates well in advance as compared to earlier years wherein due dates used to be extended at last moment.
Also recently CBDT had extended due date for filing revised and belated return for AY 2020-22 till 31.05.2021.
Various due dates which have been extended are as under:
Important Note: It is important to note that no due date has been extended for TCS return of Q4 for FY 2020-21.
Further, no benefit of reduction in rate of interest for delay in payment of tax or TDS has been provided. Hence, payment of tax needs to be made in due time.
Although Due date for filing Income tax return has been extended above, however due date for interest u/s 234A still remain unchanged where total tax payable is above Rs. 1 lakh.
Further in case of senior citizen any tax paid by them u/s 140A i.e. self assessment tax within original due date will be considered as advance tax.
Although no separate extension is provided for issuing certificate in Form 16A for TDS other than salary but since due date for TDS return has been extended same shall also be deemed to be extended.
